Oh hello Alejandro

Alejandro is the 5-foot something Papier-mâché skeleton man my friends James, Manu and I adopted from the back of every grandmother's favourite arts and craft shop, Spotlight. We don't know anything about him or who made him, but my assumption is he's an immortal Aztec prince who witnessed the fall of his empire, before being rescued and raised by a voodoo priest in New Orleans during the Roaring Twenties. Pretty sure he also was at Woodstock and had something to do with the production of the film El Topo. These are some photos of him during his big day out, in which we carried him from Sydenham to Papanui, ignoring the confused glances of other Christchurch residents.

I like this artist: Hanksy

"Hanksy" is an anonymous New York based  street artist who produces parodies of Banksy's iconic works mashed-up with pictures and references to actor Tom Hanks. Best idea ever? Best idea ever.
Apparently both Tom Hanks and Banksy are aware of and enjoy Hanksy's work, and the artist has recently branched out toward different actors and pop-culture references, but still keeping the glorious love of puns that inspired the original work.

Read an interview with Hanksy by EA Hanks, who happens to be Tom Hanks' daughter, here.
